Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye pamuk sektörünün uluslararası alandaki rekabet gücünün tüm alt gruplar itibariyle ortaya çıkarılmasıdır. Çalışma 2001-2009 yıllarına ilişkin veriler kullanılarak, Türkiye’nin ihracat oranlarının yüksek olduğu endüstriyel ürünler arasında yer alan pamuk ve pamuk ürünleri için yapılmıştır.
