Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality
Advanced Science, EarlyView.Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

A model interference method for shallow water reverberation suppression [PDF]
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1992 A method of boundary reverberation reduction for shallow water ducts has been devised that makes use of a vertical array of sound sources. By controlling the waveforms of the sources, control over the phase and amplitudes of a selected set of modes can be made. This in turn allows formation of nulls in the field at specified range/depth pairs.
