Flow Reversals in a Natural Circulation Loop at Atmospheric Pressure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer
Natural circulation in a two-phase water loop with imposed wall power, is investigated at atmospheric pressure both experimentally and numerically, using the system-scale code CATHARE. Low-pressure loops are prone to instability due to strong differences of density between the liquid and the vapor.

The G protein-coupled receptor P2RY8 and follicular dendritic cells promote germinal center confinement of B cells, whereas S1PR3 can contribute to their dissemination. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The orphan Gα13-coupled receptor P2RY8 is mutated in human germinal center (GC)-derived lymphomas and was recently found to promote B cell association with GCs in a mouse model. Here we establish that P2RY8 promotes clustering of activated B cells within

Dynamics of Vortex Pair in Radial Flow

open access: yes, 2008
The problem of vortex pair motion in two-dimensional plane radial flow is solved. Under certain conditions for flow parameters, the vortex pair can reverse its motion within a bounded region.

Periodically driven circulation near the shore of a lake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Solutions are found for a linear model of the circulation near the shore of a lake that is subject to two diurnal forcing mechanisms. The first is the day/night heating/cooling induced horizontal pressure gradient.

Large-scale circulation reversals explained by pendulum correspondence

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics
We introduce a low-order dynamical system to describe thermal convection in an annular domain. The model derives systematically from a Fourier–Laurent truncation of the governing Navier–Stokes Boussinesq equations and accounts for spatial dependence of the flow and temperature fields.
