Wide Voltage Gain Range Bidirectional DC-DC Converter with Reduced Switches Count and Buck-Boost Characteristic in Both Power Flow Directions

open access: yesEnergies
Several applications require bidirectional power converters with high-voltage gain. While several topologies have been proposed, none of them exhibit Buck-Boost characteristics in both forward and reverse power transfer.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Design of LUT based RNS reverse converters [PDF]

open access: yes2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE), 2013
This paper presents the strategies to implement Residue Number System reverse converter based on the Look-Up Table (LUT) approach that is applicable for general moduli set. The approach makes use of partitioning to divide the LUT entries into multiple small LUTs in parallel, where their outputs can be further selected to obtain the equivalent binary ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Pricing multivariate barrier reverse convertibles with factor-based subordinators [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Computational Finance, 2018
In this paper we study factor-based subordinated Levy processes in their VG and NIG specications, and focus on their ability to price multivariate exotic derivatives. Dierent model specications, calibrated to a dataset of multivariate Barrier Reverse Convertibles listed at the Swiss market, show diverse ability in capturing smile patterns and ...
