Disc Tool Profiling for Air Compressor Screws with Complex Characteristic Curves
One of the best practical methods to machine the air compressor screw pairs is milling or grinding by disc tools. The mathematics involved in disc tool profiling is quite complex and requires representing the machined surface by mathematical equations ...

Reverse Mathematics of Complexity Lower Bounds
Reverse mathematics is a program in mathematical logic that seeks to determine which axioms are necessary to prove a given theorem. In this work, we systematically explore the reverse mathematics of complexity lower bounds.

A NOTE ON THE REVERSE MATHEMATICS OF THE SORITES [PDF]
AbstractSorites is an ancient piece of paradoxical reasoning pertaining to sets with the following properties: (Supervenience) elements of the set are mapped into some set of “attributes”; (Tolerance) if an element has a given attribute then so are the elements in some vicinity of this element; and (Connectedness) such vicinities can be arranged into ...

Mathematics gender gaps in Kenya: Are resource differentials between boys and girls to blame?
The Blinder-Oaxaca approach has been used to decompose the gender gap in mathematics test scores in private and public primary schools in Kenya. That is, the mathematics production functions are estimated separately for boys and girls, the difference ...

The reverse mathematics of Hindman’s Theorem for sums of exactly two elements [PDF]
Hindman’s Theorem (HT) states that for every coloring of N with finitely many colors, there is an infinite set H ⊆ N such that all nonempty sums of distinct elements of H have the same color.

Partial orders and immunity in reverse mathematics [PDF]
We identify computability-theoretic properties enabling us to separate various statements about partial orders in reverse mathematics. We obtain simpler proofs of existing separations, and deduce new compound ones.

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
