Waste-Treatment Applications of Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis has come of age as a unit operation and is finding increasing usage in water and waste treatment. Large-scale (100–1000 gpm) units are currently operating throughout the world on a wide variety of feed streams.

Performance evaluation of a brackish water reverse osmosis plant in Oman
Despite of the existence of numerous pretreatment steps, the product water flow from a brackish waterreverse osmosis (BWRO) plant in Oman decreases from 18.5 to 16.8 m3/h, and the differential pressureincreases from 6.3 to 7.0 bar in a two-week operating

Cholesterol‐enriched plasma membranes in hepatocellular carcinoma impede drug penetration. Cholesterol (+)‐liposomes act as membrane‐specific detergents, extracting cholesterol and reducing barrier function without cytotoxicity. Following endocytosis, cholesterol transfers from endosomes to liposomes and is metabolized in the ER.

Our experimental evidence supports a model in which ALO targets the HSPA8‐CMA‐ATP6V1A axis to induce lysosomal hyperacidification and initiate osmotic and lipidomic stress. These changes are associated with LMP and loss of lysosomal integrity in prostate cancer cells.

A pH/MMP dual‐responsive Bifidobacterium longum (BL) hydrogel (INPs@BL@Gel) functionalized with baicalin, tyrosine, and inulin is constructed. It enables gastric protection, inflammation‐targeted release, and prolonged intestinal colonization. By remodeling gut microbiota, elevating beneficial neuroactive metabolites (homovanillic acid, short‐chain ...

This prospective study observed that preoperative chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer was associated with reductions in body fat and grip strength, which appeared to be more pronounced in female patients. These findings suggest that sex‐sensitive nutritional and exercise support may be beneficial to help maintain muscle mass and physical function ...
