Ternary Synergy in Layered Double Hydroxides for Efficient and Stable Nitrate Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ternary CuZnFe LDH enables efficient electrocatalytic nitrate‐to‐ammonia conversion via controlled in situ reconstruction: zinc leaching creates porous active sites, copper reduced to metallic copper, while iron oxide keeps stable. Synergistic Cu‐Fe redox coupling drives tandem catalysis (nitrate→nitrite→NH3), achieving 95% Faraday efficiency and ...

Assisted reverse electrodialysis : a novel technique to decrease reverse osmosis energy demand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Assisted reverse electrodialysis (ARED) was introduced as a pre-desalination technique for seawater reverse osmosis (RO) for drinking water production. ARED is comparable to an additional applied pressure along the osmotic pressure in pressure assisted ...

Morphometric‐Assisted Prediction of Developmental Toxicity Using Stem Cell‐Based Embryo Models in Microwells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This proof‐of‐concept study involves high‐throughput teratogenicity screening of compounds using XEn/EpiCs, a 3D stem cell‐based embryo model, within microwells. The term ‘morphotoxicity’ is introduced to complement traditional cytotoxicity assays through automated feature extraction and machine‐learning‐assisted classification of morphologies.

Encapsulation of Small Extracellular Vesicles into Selectively Disassemblable Shells of PEGylated Metal‐Phenolic Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) are encapsulated into protective shells composed of metal‐phenolic networks (MPNs) and secondary poly(ethylene glycol) layers. This surface modification approach enhances the storage stability of sEVs while maintaining their integrity and functionality. The shells can be selectively disassembled under mild conditions.
