Electrodialysis and Reverse Osmosis as a Regeneration System for Hemofiltrate
Artificial Organs, 1983Abstract: The separation of urea from the hemofiltrate (or from spent dialysis fluid) must be considered the critical step in all regeneration systems. A promising solution for this problem is the combination of electrodialysis and reverse osmosis.

Mathematical modeling of reverse osmosis systems
Desalination, 2004Abstract The present investigation pertains to modeling of seawater desalination system. A simulation model was developed and verified for a small-scale reverse osmosis system. The proposed model combines material balances on the feed tank, membrane module andproduct tank with membrane mass transfer models.

Thermodynamics of ternary systems in reverse osmosis
Desalination, 1983Abstract Solute retention curves in binary systems are rather well predicted by the Spiegler-Kedem theory. It is shown that this theory is easily generalized to ternary systems if small Peclet numbers are involved. The thermodynamical description is extended with a special parameter due to the solute-solute interaction.

Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2018
The water needs of the inhabitants of Saudi Arabia are met by desalination powered by electricity generated from fossil fuel. Excessive burning of fossil fuels results in faster depletion and causes an adverse impact on the local environment.

Leachate treatment by the reverse osmosis system
Desalination, 2002The DT-Module system for landfill leachate treatment installed at Yachiyo Town in the Kanto District of Japan was put into service in April 1999. The system, which is equipped with a disc-tube type reverse osmosis (RO) membrane module called the DT-Module, has been operating satisfactorily for more than two and a half years, producing very-high-quality

A miniature reverse osmosis-ultrafiltration system
Desalination, 1977Abstract A miniature membrane separation system is described. Its two main components are a miniature high pressure pump and a miniature plate and frame reverse osmosis cell. The pump developed delivers up to 2.2 lit/hr of water at 80 atm. The reverse osmosis cell may accomodate membranes of a total area up to 4000 cm2.

Coal chemical reverse osmosis concentrate treatment by membrane-aerated biofilm reactor system.
Bioresource Technology, 2018Coal chemical reverse osmosis concentrate (ROC), which is characterized by high salinity and high organics, remains as a serious environmental problem. In this study, a lab-scale three-stage membrane-aerated biofilm reactor (MABR) system was designed to ...
