Optical limiting and reverse-saturable absorption in glycerol

Journal of Optics, 2021
The input–output power response of the glycerol solution with different glycerin concentrations is studied. It is found that there is an optical power limiting activity for glycerol. The transmission of the optical power is found to decrease with increasing the concentration.

Reverse saturable absorption dynamics in indocyanine green

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry, 2007
Abstract In this work, we studied the nonlinear absorption dynamics of indocyanine green (ICG) in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at 532 nm. Single pulse and pulse train Z-scan techniques were used to obtain singlet and triplet states dynamics, which were analyzed with a three- and five-energy level diagram, respectively.

Passive Mode-Locking with Reverse Saturable Absorption

Topical Meeting on Ultrafast Phenomena, 1984
Considerable work has been reported on the theory and experimental implementation of passive mode-locking.1 The leading edge of a mode-locked pulse is shaped by the rapid reduction of the loss due to the saturation of the absorption of the saturable absorber. Two mechanisms for shaping the trailing edge of the mode-locked pulse are in general use.

Saturable and Reverse Saturable Absorption Features of Lissamine Green Dye in Different Solvent Media

Journal of Fluorescence, 2023
Organic dyes have shown a remarkable nonlinear optical (NLO) characteristics under low power laser regime because of chemical stability, large nonlinearity and high susceptibility. With this view in mind, herein we report the third-order NLO features of lissamine green dye using 5 mW power laser with operating wavelength of 650 nm.

Reverse-saturable absorption in aluminophthalocyanine-doped xerogels

Applied Physics B, 1994
Aluminophthalocyanines were encaged in different silica xerogel matrices. Nonlinear reverse-saturable absorption behavior was observed for both nanosecond and picosecond pulse excitation at 532 nm. In order to determine the relaxation paths of the molecules after optical excitation, we measured the evolution of the transmission of a continuous probe ...

Tunable conversion from saturable absorption to reverse saturable absorption in poly (pyrrole methine) derivatives

J. Mater. Chem. C, 2014
Four kinds of poly (pyrrole methine) derivatives were synthesized. Nonlinear optical absorption studies of these polymers are investigated at 800 nm with the Z-scan technique and femtosecond laser pulses. These derivatives show tunable conversion from saturable absorption (SA) to reverse saturable absorption (RSA). The conversion from SA to RSA depends

Investigation of Saturable and Reverse Saturable Absorptions for Graphene by Z-Scan Technique

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2015
The optical nonlinear absorption (NLA) property of multilayer graphene was investigated by Z-scan technique with picosecond laser pulse of 532-nm wavelength. Graphene samples were fabricated by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) with different number of layers, which were 1-, 8-, and 16-layer. The dependence of NLA coefficient $\alpha (I)$ on number

Fluence-induced reversal of saturable absorption in a ruthenium-based porphyrin

Applied Optics, 2016
Experimental nonlinear absorption data obtained using the open-aperture Z-scan technique are presented for 2, 3, 7, 8, 12, 17, 18-octaethyl-21H, 23H-porphine ruthenium (II) carbonyl in tetrahydrofuran. These data show saturation of nonlinear absorption dominating at low fluence but being overcome by induced absorption (reverse saturable absorption) at ...

Dynamic and steady-state behaviors of reverse saturable absorption in metallophthalocyanine

Physical Review A, 1994
The dynamic and steady-state processes of the reverse saturable absorption (RSA) and the related optical limiting (OL) and optical bistability (OB) in metallophthalocyanine have been studied in detail using rate equations and the light-propagation equation.

Enhanced reverse saturable absorption in graphene/Ag2S organic glasses

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2013
G/Ag2S composites were synthesized for the first time by a hydrothermal method. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy analysis demonstrated that Ag2S nanoparticles with a diameter of about 130 nm uniformly covered the graphene surfaces.
