The period functions' higher order derivatives [PDF]
We prove a formula for the $n$-th derivative of the period function $T$ in a period annulus of a planar differential system. For $n = 1$, we obtain Freire, Gasull and Guillamon formula for the period's first derivative \cite{FGG}.

Kinematic dynamo theory is presented here for turbulent conductive fluids. We describe how inhomogeneous magnetic fluctuations are generated below the viscous scale of turbulence where the spatial smoothness of the velocity permits a systematic analysis ...

Three Lectures: Nemd, Spam, and Shockwaves
We discuss three related subjects well suited to graduate research. The first, Nonequilibrium molecular dynamics or "NEMD", makes possible the simulation of atomistic systems driven by external fields, subject to dynamic constraints, and thermostated so ...

Symmetries and reversing symmetries of polynomial automorphisms of the plane
The polynomial automorphisms of the affine plane over a field K form a group which has the structure of an amalgamated free product. This well-known algebraic structure can be used to determine some key results about the symmetry and reversing symmetry ...

Self-current induced spin-orbit torque in FeMn/Pt multilayers
Extensive efforts have been devoted to the study of spin-orbit torque in ferromagnetic metal/heavy metal bilayers and exploitation of it for magnetization switching using an in-plane current.

Electrodynamics of Superconductors Exposed to High Frequency Fields
The electric losses in a bulk or film superconductor exposed to a parallel radio-frequency magnetic field may have three origins: In homogeneous vortex-free superconductors losses proportional to the frequency squared originate from the oscillating ...

We prove that every heteroclinic saddle loop (a two-saddle cycle) occurring in an analytic finite-parameter family of plane analytic vector fields, may generate no more than a finite number of limit cycles within the family.Comment: 21 pages, 10 figures,

Macroelement modeling of shallow foundations
The paper presents a new macroelement model for shallow foundations. The model is defined through a non-linear constitutive law written in terms of some generalized force and displacement parameters.
