Assessing the Sensitivity and the Clinical Impact of the 2023 American College of Rheumatology/EULAR Classification Criteria in Obstetric Antiphospholid Syndrome: Findings From a Multicenter Italian Cohort With a Long‐Term Follow‐Up

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensitivity of the 2023 American College of Rheumatology (ACR)/EULAR classification criteria for antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) in a real‐world cohort of women diagnosed with primary obstetric APS (oAPS) and to assess their ability to identify patients at risk of future pregnancy complications ...

Sex differences in post-operative outcomes following non-cardiac surgery.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
It is uncertain whether sex is an independent risk factor for poor outcomes after non-cardiac surgery. We examined sex differences in short- and long-term mortality and morbidity in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery in Alberta, Canada. Using linked

Incremental value of high-sensitive troponin T in addition to the revised cardiac index for peri-operative risk stratification in non-cardiac surgery

open access: yes, 2012
We aimed to evaluate the incremental value of high-sensitive troponin T (hsTnT) for risk prediction prior to non-cardiac surgery in comparison with the established revised cardiac index. In this prospective, international multicentre observational study,

Role of Cardio-biomarkers (NT-Pro BNP and Troponin I) in cardiac risk stratification of patients undergoing major vascular surgeries

open access: yesIndian Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, 2021
Objective: The objective is to assess the role of cardio-biomarkers, namely, N-Terminal Pro-hormone Beta Natriuretic Peptide (NT-ProBNP) and Cardiac Troponin I (cTnI) in prediction of postoperative cardiac events (POCEs) in noncardiac patients undergoing

Building a Framework for Sexual and Reproductive Health Care in the Rheumatology Context: Content and Approaches

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
People with systemic autoimmune and rheumatic diseases (SARDs) are at higher risk than the general population of experiencing adverse pregnancy and perinatal outcomes such as preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restriction, and maternal and/or fetal death.

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Coronary Artery Calcium Progression: A Case Cohort Analysis From ELSA‐Brasil

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To investigate the association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and coronary artery calcium (CAC) prevalence, incidence, and progression over four years in adults without prior cardiovascular disease. Methods A case‐cohort study within the Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA‐Brasil) included 585 participants (86 patients with ...

Risk factors for infections after urological procedures among patients with negative urine culture screening

open access: yesAntimicrobial Stewardship & Healthcare Epidemiology
In this retrospective cohort, chronic kidney disease stage III-V (P = .005), history of previous urinary tract infection within 3 months (P < .05), Revised Cardiac Risk Index for preoperative risk ≥2 (P = .002), and percutaneous nephrolithotomy procedure

Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.
