Dry intrusions and warm‐core development in Medicanes: Insights from a multi‐case analysis and the peculiar evolution of Ianos

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Mediterranean tropical‐like cyclones show a clear seasonality, with September cyclones exhibiting the deepest convection and Ianos representing the most extreme case. While one or more dry intrusions are typically detected during the cyclone life cycle, Ianos instead features two much weaker descending airflows.

Fundamental Hydraulic Geometry Relations as an Accessible Tool for Identifying Channel Instability Over National Scales

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The geometry of alluvial river channels can give insight into their stability, which can inform predictions of morphological change, flood risk and ecological degradation. Fundamental hydraulic geometry relations can be used to estimate the equilibrium dimensions of stable river channels by evaluating the balance between the erodibility of bed

An Exploration of the Relationships Between Science Identity and Disabled Identities in Undergraduate Science Students

open access: yesScience Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Science identity is often conceptualized through constructs such as performance, competence, recognition, and interest, with prior research highlighting the roles of race, gender, and cultural background in shaping students' experiences. However, limited scholarship has examined how disability interacts with science identity in postsecondary ...

Advancing SDG8, SDG10, and SDG16: The Roles of Tax Burden, Income Inequality, and Human Rights in Driving Sustainable Development in the United States

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainable development depends on economic, social, and environmental aspects, all of which play a key role in long‐term societal well‐being. While much of the existing literature emphasizes environmental aspects, the economic and social components, crucial for achieving SDG8, SDG10, and SDG16, are often overlooked in sustainable development ...
