Clinical Outcomes of Kinematic Alignment Versus Mechanical Alignment in Total Knee Arthroplasty: An Umbrella Review of Published Meta‐Analyses and Systematic Reviews

open access: yesMedicine Advances, EarlyView.
This is the first umbrella review that collates the evidence from 11 meta‐analyses (30 studies, 2963 patients) to conduct the highest‐level comparison between kinematic alignment (KA) and mechanical alignment (MA) in total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Comparison of six nutritional screening tool‐based Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition criteria models for predicting activities of daily living in older patients with subacute stroke: A single‐center retrospective cohort study

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) recommends a two‐step diagnostic process consisting of initial screening for malnutrition risk followed by diagnostic assessment. We evaluated the association between GLIM‐defined malnutrition identified using six alternative first‐step screening tools and Functional ...

AI‐Revealed Transition From Density‐ to Connectivity‐Controlled Mechanics in Hierarchical Porous Materials

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Using synchrotron‐based multiscale imaging, generative modeling algorithms, and computational mechanics models, our study reveals a scale‐dependent transition in bone mechanics. The results of the power‐scaling law illustrate a transition from density‐controlled stiffness at the trabecular scale to connectivity‐controlled, porosity‐sensitive mechanics ...

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

PROSPECT guideline for total hip arthroplasty: updated systematic review and procedure‐specific postoperative pain management recommendations

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction The Procedure Specific Postoperative Pain Management (PROSPECT) collaboration develops evidence‐based recommendations integrating analgesic efficacy, safety and functional recovery. Since publication of the 2021 PROSPECT guidelines for total hip arthroplasty, new evidence, particularly on motor‐sparing regional techniques, has ...
