An Edible Chitosan‐Based Acoustic Sensor for Sound‐Responsive Actuation in Edible Robots
This study introduces an edible acoustic sensor for robotic food and edible robotics. Built from a chitosan piezoelectric film between gold electrodes, the sensor enables acoustic communication through ON/OFF keying. Integrated into an edible robot with pneumatically actuated arms and neck, it responds to high‐frequency tones.

A multicomponent supramolecular hydrogel integrating cell‐adhesive and antibacterial peptides within an alginate‐cellulose nanofibril matrix is developed. Peptide co‐assembly simultaneously strengthens the hydrogel network, improves extrusion printability, and imparts cell‐adhesive and antibacterial functions, offering a versatile platform for ...

Coordinated Architectural and Chemical Reinforcement in the Crushing Mandible of a Soldier Termite
The crushing mandible of a soldier termite withstands substantial biting loads despite lacking mineral. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.

Bone‐Inspired Recyclable Composites for Damage‐Tolerant Circular Materials
Bone‐inspired architected composites are developed by combining osteon‐like reinforcements with a recyclable Elium thermoplastic matrix. The hierarchical architecture redirects cracks and promotes energy dissipation, while enabling recovery of intact, aligned, load‐bearing reinforcement units that retain their original stiffness, revealing a route ...

The effects of reward and loss anticipation on attentional bias for reward-related stimuli
Attentional biases for reward-related (e.g., food, alcohol) cues are moderated by the expectation of imminent reward availability, but the psychological mechanisms that underlie this effect are unclear. We report two studies in which we investigated if effects of reward gain anticipation are specific to the type of reward that is anticipated, and if ...

Magneto- and electroencephalographic manifestations of reward anticipation and delivery
The monetary incentive delay task was used to characterize reward anticipation and delivery with concurrently acquired evoked magnetic fields, EEG potentials and EEG/MEG oscillatory responses, obtaining a precise portrayal of their spatiotemporal evolution.

Convergence of EEG and fMRI measures of reward anticipation [PDF]
Deficits in reward anticipation are putative mechanisms for multiple psychopathologies. Research indicates that these deficits are characterized by reduced left (relative to right) frontal electroencephalogram (EEG) activity and blood oxygenation level-dependent (BOLD) signal abnormalities in mesolimbic and prefrontal neural regions during reward ...

Temporal dynamics of reward anticipation in the human brain
Biological Psychology, 2017Reward anticipation is a complex process including cue evaluation, motor preparation, and feedback anticipation. The present study investigated whether these psychological processes were dissociable on neural dynamics in terms of incentive valence and approach motivation. We recorded EEG when participants were performing a monetary incentive delay task,
