Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Anticipation of Social and Monetary Rewards in Schizophrenia
Numerous behavioural and neuroimaging studies have explored human cognitive processing of various rewards, such as food, monetary or social stimuli. Previous studies with patients suffering from schizophrenia (SZ) used incentive delay tasks with monetary rewards.

The neural code of reward anticipation in human orbitofrontal cortex [PDF]
An optimal choice among alternative behavioral options requires precise anticipatory representations of their possible outcomes. A fundamental question is how such anticipated outcomes are represented in the brain. Reward coding at the level of single cells in the orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) follows a more heterogeneous coding scheme than suggested by ...

Binge eating is characterized as eating a large amount of food and feeling a loss of control while eating. However, the neurobiological mechanisms associated with the onset and maintenance of binge eating are largely unknown. Recent neuroimaging work has

Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder
BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.

Neural responses to monetary incentives in bipolar disorder
Although behavioral sensitivity to reward predicts the onset and course of mania in bipolar disorder, the evidence for neural abnormalities in reward processing in bipolar disorder is mixed.

Heterodimeric amino acid transporters consist of SLC7 and SLC3 family proteins arranged in a conserved structural organization. They regulate nutrient transport across cell membranes, supporting essential cellular functions. These transporters also contribute to xenobiotic/drug uptake and distribution.

An Electrophysiology Protocol to Measure Reward Anticipation and Processing in Children [PDF]
We present a protocol designed to measure the neural correlates of reward in children. The protocol allows researchers to measure both reward anticipation and processing. Its purpose is to create a reward task that is appropriate for young children with and without autism while controlling reward properties between two conditions: social and nonsocial.

Increased levels of peripheral cytokines have been previously associated with depression in preclinical and clinical research. Although the precise nature of peripheral immune dysfunction in depression remains unclear, evidence from animal studies points

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?
