Global guidelines for peatland rewetting and restoration
2021Technical Report 11, prepared by the Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP), provides global guidelines for peatland rewetting and restoration. It explains that rewetting degraded peatlands is essential for climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation and the recovery of ecosystem services, and offers comprehensive technical guidance for ...

Calculations on the rewetting of hot surfaces
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1974Abstract Previous theoretical and experimental work has shown that the rate of advance of a quench front over a hot surface is a function of the initial temperature, the thickness and the physical properties of the hot surface, and the cooling water flow conditions.

Rewetting of an infinite tube with internal heating
International Journal of Numerical Methods for Heat & Fluid Flow, 2001A numerical study has been made to investigate the effect of internal heating and precursory cooling during quenching of an infinite tube. The finite difference solution gives the quench front temperature as a function of various model parameters such as Peclet number, Biot number and dimensionless heat flux.

Abstract Since min = 27kW/m2, then ATmin = 80°C. This is a rather low value, giving a minimum film boiling temperature of 180 °C. In practice, effects such as liquid and surface contamination and the presence of an oxide layer on the surface all tend to increase the minimum film boiling temperature, another term for the Leiden frost ...

Rewetting of an infinite tube with a uniform heating
Heat and Mass Transfer, 2002The two-dimensional quasi-steady conduction equation governing conduction controlled rewetting of an infinite tube, with outer surface flooded and the inside surface subjected to a constant heat flux, has been solved by Wiener–Hopf technique. The solution yields the quench front temperature as a function of various model parameters such as Peclet ...

Rewetting of drained agricultural land is expanding across Europe to meet climate and biodiversity targets, yet the relative roles of post‐rewetting management and restoration age in shaping vegetation remain poorly resolved. We surveyed vascular plant communities and soils in 69 plots across 12 rewetted former croplands (6–22 years since rewetting) in

Navigating the transition to rewetted peatlands
This cumulative dissertation analyses the rewetting of agriculturally used peatlands in Germany as a socially acceptable and climate-target-compliant transition. The dissertation highlights that rewetting is a task for society as a whole, involving a profound, multidimensional transition.openaire +1 more source
