The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Die spore van Raka: oor herskrywing en kanonisering (Deel 1)

open access: yesTydskrif vir Letterkunde, 2017
Every literary system possesses a canon with the classical canon as the most stable and simultaneously the one with the most restrictive access. Writers and texts can only maintain their position within the canon through continuous rewriting: critical ...

On the Possibility and Plurality of Worlds: from The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to Le Crime étrange de Mr Hyde

open access: yesSillages Critiques, 2004
When an academic and Stevenson specialist writes a first novel meant as a rewriting of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, he tries to justify, with a hindsight, how he came to bridge the gap between his research and his post-modern Victorian ...

Chemical synthesis rewriting of a bacterial genome to achieve design flexibility and biological functionality

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2019
Significance The fundamental biological functions of a living cell are stored within the DNA sequence of its genome. Classical genetic approaches dissect the functioning of biological systems by analyzing individual genes, yet uncovering the essential ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Le travail du commun : retours de Mrs Dalloway dans Les Veilleurs de chagrin de Nicole Roland

open access: yesÉtudes Britanniques Contemporaines, 2015
Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway is the major intertext of Les Veilleurs de chagrin, Nicole Roland’s novel. Not only is Mrs Dalloway omnipresent by the numerous quotations and allusions to it, but a copy of the book circulates with the protagonist ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

De la biographie criminelle à l’autobiographie spirituelle : emprunts, réécriture et autoréécriture chez Defoe

open access: yesXVII-XVIII, 2019
Roxana (1724) is Daniel Defoe’s last “criminal novel” – or at least it is designated as such nowadays by some critics. The issue of literary genre is problematic when we talk about the criminal narratives written by Defoe in the 1720s since he wrote both
