Nonlinear Reynolds equation for hydrodynamic lubrication [PDF]
We derive a novel and rigorous correction to the classical Reynolds lubrication approximation for fluids with viscosity depending upon the pressure. Our analysis shows that the pressure dependence of viscosity leads to additional nonlinear terms related to the shear-rate and arising from a non negligible cross-film pressure.

Singular perturbation problem for the incompressible Reynolds equation
Summary: We study the asymptotic behavior of the solution of Reynolds equation which describes the behavior of the fluid between two close surfaces as the distance between the two surfaces locally tends to zero.

Stabilized finite elements for the solution of the Reynolds equation considering cavitation [PDF]
The Reynolds equation, combined with the Elrod algorithm for including the effect of cavitation, resembles a nonlinear convection-diffusion-reaction (CDR) equation. Its solution by finite elements is prone to oscillations in convection-dominated regions,

Optimization of the Colebrook-White Equation based on experimental data [PDF]
Friction plays an important role in velocity distribution, shear stress, boundary layer, energy loss, and erosion. In the pressure drop, the friction factor has a direct relation with the Reynolds Number in smooth, turbulent, and transitional flows from ...

Effect of hydromagnetic squeeze film between non-porous rough triangular plates [PDF]
The current investigation analyse the impact of hydromagnetic squeeze film between non-porous rough triangular plates. The bearing surface are viewed transversely rough. The Christensen and Tonder model is embraced for transverse roughness.

Since the 1960s, all studies have assumed that a film thickness “ h ” provides a unique pressure field “ p ” by resolving the Reynolds equation. However, it is relevant to investigate the film thickness unicity under a given hydrodynamic pressure within ...

Efficient rotordynamic simulations with semi-analytical computation of hydrodynamic forces [PDF]
A common problem in transient rotordynamic simulations is the numerical effort necessary for the computation of hydrodynamic bearing forces. Due to the nonlinear interaction between the rotordynamic and hydrodynamic systems, an adequate prediction of ...
