Optimization of Magnetic Milli‐Spinner for Robotic Endovascular Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents the design optimization of a multifunctional magnetic milli‐spinner for high‐speed propulsion and efficient clot debulking. The optimized design achieves an ultrafast swimming velocity of 55 cm/s (≈175 body lengths/s) in saline water, enabling stable upstream swimming against strong physiological flows and establishing magnetic milli‐

Methods for Solving Gas Damping Problems in Perforated Microstructures Using a 2D Finite-Element Solver

open access: yesSensors, 2007
We present a straightforward method to solve gas damping problems for perfo-rated structures in two dimensions (2D) utilising a Perforation Profile Reynolds (PPR) solver. The PPR equation is an extended Reynolds equation that includes additional terms ...

A Plug‐and‐Play Volume Minimizing Micromixer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microscale fluid mixing has numerous applications where rapid and efficient mixing is required, including drug discovery, bio‐analysis and point‐of‐care diagnostics. Conventional soft lithography processes, however, make the integration of robust and reliable mixing difficult to implement in practice, especially across different flow rates ...

Accuracy and Grid Convergence of the Numerical Solution of the Energy Equation in Fluid Film Lubrication: Application to the 1D Slider

open access: yesLubricants, 2018
The present work is focused on the numerical solution of the complete energy equation used in fluid film lubrication. The work was motivated by the fact that the complete energy equation has no analytical solution that can be used for validations.

Cellular Snowballing: Cell Adhesion and Migration Drive the Self‐Assembly of Cell‐Microgel Biohybrid Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new class of biohybrid spheroids is engineered through the self‐assembly of adherent cells and extracellular matrix‐mimetic hydrogel microparticles (microgels). By mimicking a snowballing effect, this approach enables scalable formation of porous, millimeter‐scale spheroids with enhanced cell viability and molecular diffusion.

Comparison of Hirs' equation of Moody's equation for determining rotordynamic coefficients of annular pressure seals [PDF]

open access: yes
The rotordynamic coefficients of an incompressible-flow annular pressure seal were determined using a bulk-flow model in conjunction with two different friction factor relationships. The first, Hirs' equation, assumes the friction factor is a function of

Thermally Induced Creep and Viscoelastic Behavior of Copper Micropillar Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Copper micropillar arrays are fabricated by electrodeposition within through‐glass‐via, and their thermally induced time‐dependent deformation is quantified. Nanoindentation creep, EBSD, and TEM reveal a heat‐treatment‐driven transition between grain‐boundary‐mediated deformation and dislocation‐dominated creep, while Kelvin modeling captures ...

Piezo1 Channel Mediates Mechanically Programmable Drug Delivery to Potentiate Intravesical Chemotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study utilizes programmable mechanical pressure as a therapeutic enhancer to establish a mechano‐chemotherapy strategy. Controlled pressure activates the mechanosensitive ion channel Piezo1 in bladder cancer, triggering a calcium ion cascade that transiently and reversibly amplifies membrane permeability to chemotherapeutics.
