Initial-Boundary Value Problem for the Reynolds Lubrication Equation
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2004Summary: The nonstationary Reynolds equation of the theory of gas lubrication is considered. The existence and uniqueness of a solution to the initial-boundary value problem for this equation are established in the case of sufficiently smooth data. Estimates for the solution are obtained for large bearing numbers.

Lubrication with emulsion: first report, the extended Reynolds equation
Wear, 1997A simplified model based on the continuum theory of mixtures is proposed to derive the extended Reynolds equation for lubrication with emulsion. This model has showed that there is a velocity difference between two phases of emulsion. The existence of the velocity difference is the reason why the oil concentration varies in lubrication film. Using this

A modified nonlinear Reynolds equation for thin viscous flows in lubrication
Asymptotic Analysis, 2007We derive a nonlinear second-order differential equation for the pressure approximation in hydrodynamic lubrication. This equation, in contrast to the classical Reynolds equation, takes into account both the inertial and the curvature effects and its solution corresponds to the first two terms in the asymptotic pressure expansion.

Validity of the modified Reynolds equation for incompressible active lubrication
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology, 2016The modified Reynolds equation for active lubrication has been the cornerstone around which the theoretical investigations regarding actively lubricated bearings have evolved over the years. Introduced originally in 1994, it enables to calculate in a simplified manner the bearing pressure field as a function of servovalve controlled pressurized oil ...

A novel Reynolds equation of non-Newtonian fluid for lubrication simulation
Tribology International, 2016Abstract The non-Newtonian phenomenon is significant in hydrodynamic lubrication of some special lubricants, or elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL). However, the conventional methods to solve the non-Newtonian lubrication problem are either too complicated or inaccurate.

A new modified Reynolds equation for ultrathin film gas lubrication
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1996A new modified Reynolds equation for solving the ultrathin film gas lubrication is proposed to overcome the complicated and time-consuming difficulties of solving the linearized Boltzmann equation. The model equation is based on modified high-order slip-flow velocity distribution with three adjustable coefficients, which are corrected according to the ...

A Generalized Reynolds Equation for Non-Newtonian Thermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication
Journal of Tribology, 1990A new generalized Reynolds equation, which can incorporate most of the rheological laws found in the literature, is derived in this paper. A number of numerical solutions of the line contact thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication problem has been obtained by using five rheological laws. The results show that, the influence of the non-Newtonian behavior
