Maize–soybean intercropping: A bibliometric analysis of 30 years of research publications
Abstract Maize (Zea may L.)–soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] intercropping is popular in many countries because of its high productivity. However, no studies have explored maize–soybean intercropping via bibliometric methods. Taking the Web of Science database, the visualization applications of CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to visually analyze the ...

Frozen propagation of Reynolds force vector from high-fidelity data into Reynolds-averaged simulations of secondary flows [PDF]
Successful propagation of information from high-fidelity sources (i.e., direct numerical simulations and large-eddy simulations) into Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations plays an important role in the emerging field of data-driven RANS modeling.

Biotechnology at low Reynolds numbers
The shrinking of liquid handling systems to the micron and submicron size range entails moving into the area of small Reynolds numbers. The fluid dynamics in this regime are very different from the macroscale. We present an intuitive explanation of how the different physics of small Reynolds numbers flow, along with microscopic sizes, can influence ...

Does agroecosystem management mitigate historic climate impacts on dryland winter wheat yields?
Abstract Global studies that quantify climate effects on crop yields using top‐down spatial frameworks are invaluable for assessing generalized effects on world food supplies, yet do not contain the resolution necessary to identify local mediating effects of management. Our objectives were to identify (a) what climate factors have historically affected

High-Reynolds-Number Flow past a Pipe
The present aim is to reveal the flow past a pipe which is immersed parallel to the mainstream at high Reynolds numbers. In a wind tunnel, we carry out (1) base-pressure measurements, (2) velocity-fluctuation measurements using a hot-wire anemometer and (

Viscosity-model-independent generalized Reynolds number for laminar flow of shear-thinning and viscoplastic fluids [PDF]
Understanding the flow dynamics of non-Newtonian fluids is crucial in various engineering, industrial, and biomedical applications. However, the existing generalized Reynolds number formulations for non-Newtonian fluids have limited applicability due to their dependencies on their specific viscosity models.

Scattering of low-Reynolds-number swimmers [PDF]
We describe the consequences of time reversal invariance of the Stokes' equations for the hydrodynamic scattering of two low Reynolds number swimmers. For swimmers that are related to each other by a time reversal transformation this leads to the striking result that the angle between the two swimmers is preserved by the scattering.

Do smaller chicken farms use more antibiotics? Evidence of antibiotic diffusion from Nigeria
Abstract Farmers across the world have been using antibiotics in poultry production for both therapeutic and nontherapeutic purposes since the mid 1900s. The literature on antibiotic diffusion and intensification is largely focused on developed countries in North America and Western Europe.

Aerodynamic characteristics of low Reynolds number airfoils
Assessment of airfoil aerodynamic characteristics is essential part of any optimal airfoil design procedure. This paper illustrates rapid and efficient method for determination of aerodynamic characteristics of an airfoil, which is based on viscous ...
