Fluid Flow and Effect of Turbulence Model on Large-Sized Triple-Offset Butterfly Valve [PDF]
The performance a valve has been frequently estimated with numerical methods owing to limitations such as cost and place. In this study, for the triple-offset butterfly valves, the different sizes in various disc-opening cases was numerically conducted ...

Experimental Study on Wake Characteristics of Secondary Grooved Cylinders with Different Depths [PDF]
In this study, the flow field of a new secondary-grooved cylinder is determined by using particle image velocimetry (PIV) to understand the wake characteristics at different depths of the secondary grooved cylinders.

Measurements of the Reynolds stress in the turbulent premixed flame
It has been shown in our previous study that the bi-modal distribution is seen in the radial component of the gas velocity obtained in the turbulent flame brush, implying that the shear component of the Reynolds stress conditioned on the unburnt mixture ...

Numerical simulation analysis of flow characteristics in the cavity of the rotor-stator system
Investigating the flow characteristics in the cavity by changing the rotor profile of the rotor-stator system is of considerable significance, this paper simplifies clearance flow to rotor-stator cavity flow. The numerical simulation results are compared

Inner-outer decomposition of wall shear stress fluctuations in turbulent channels
Fluctuating wall shear stress in turbulent channel flows is decomposed into small-scale and large-scale components. The large-scale fluctuating wall shear stress is computed as the footprints of the outer turbulent motions, and the small-scale one is ...

Revisiting the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations
This study revisits the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations and finds that the existing literature is erroneous regarding the primary unknowns and the number of independent unknowns in the RANS. The literature claims that the Reynolds stress

Reynolds Stresses Derived from Simulations [PDF]
Three-dimensional simulations of convection are studied with specific attention to the effects of rotation and latitude on different quantities. The latitude-dependence of the strength of convection is found to decrease with increasing strength of the turbulence. The λ-effect is, however, still present also in a more turbulent case.

Intense Reynolds-stress events in turbulent ducts
Abstract The aim of the present work is to investigate the role of intense Reynolds shear-stress events in the generation of the secondary flow in turbulent ducts. We consider the connected regions of flow where the product of the instantaneous fluctuations of two velocity components is higher than a threshold based on the long-time turbulence ...
