Realizability of Reynolds-stress turbulence models [PDF]

open access: yesThe Physics of Fluids, 1977
It is shown that certain existing phenomenological models of turbulence in terms of differential equations for the Reynolds stresses Rαβ=〈u′α u′β〉 do not guarantee realizable solutions. The known realizability conditions are Rαβ⩾0 for α=β and Rαβ2⩾Rαα Rββ for α≠β. A stronger requirement is that the matrix Rαβ be positive semi-definite.

Las ecuaciones de Reynolds y la relación de clausura

open access: yesRevista de Matemática: Teoría y Aplicaciones, 2009
We posed the problem to obtain the closure relation for the Reynolds equations. And like secondary target, to obtain analytical expressions for the Reynolds stress. Showing its jump of discontinuity like expression of the rupture of the symmetry; the one

Simulations of the Rotor-Stator-Cavity Flow in Liquid-Floating Rotor Micro Gyroscope

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
When rotating at a high speed in a microscale flow field in confined spaces, rotors are subject to a complex flow due to the joint effect of the centrifugal force, hindering of the stationary cavity and the scale effect.

Solar differential rotation and meridional flow: The role of a subadiabatic tachocline for the Taylor-Proudman balance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We present a simple model for the solar differential rotation and meridional circulation based on a mean field parameterization of the Reynolds stresses that drive the differential rotation.

On Application of EARSM Turbulence Model for Simulation of Flow Field behind Rack Station

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
This paper is interested in the mathematical modeling and approximation of the turbulent flow with strong anisotropy for the case of flow in a rack station. Turbulent models based on Boussinesq eddy viscosity assumption are traditionally employed for the

Numerical study on the influence of wall temperature gradient on aerodynamic characteristics of low aspect ratio flying wing configuration

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
With the aim for a low-aspect-ratio flying wing configuration, this study explores the influence of wall temperature gradient on the laminar and turbulent boundary layers of aircraft surface and determines the effect on the transition Reynolds number and

Numerical Analysis of Tip Vortex and Cavitation of Elliptic Hydrofoil with NACA 662-415 Cross Section

open access: yes한국해양공학회지, 2018
This paper provides quantification of the effects of the turbulence model and grid refinement on the analysis of tip vortex flows by using the RANS(Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes) method. Numerical simulations of the tip vortex flows of the NACA 662-415

Computational study of a complex three-dimensional shock boundary-layer interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Shock boundary–layer interactions occur in many high-speed aerodynamic flows and they can have a notable impact on design considerations due to the aerodynamic and heat transfer effects.
