Recognition of the amber UAG stop codon by release factor RF1 [PDF]

open access: yesEMBO Journal, 2010
We report the crystal structure of a termination complex containing release factor RF1 bound to the 70S ribosome in response to an amber (UAG) codon at 3.6-A ̊ resolution.

The Transcriptional Regulator TFB-RF1 Activates Transcription of a Putative ABC Transporter in Pyrococcus furiosus [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Transcription factor B recruiting factor 1 (TFB-RF1; PF1088) is a transcription regulator which activates transcription on archaeal promoters containing weak TFB recognition elements (BRE) by recruiting TFB to the promoter. The mechanism of activation is

Development and Validation of Markers for the Fertility Restorer Gene Rf1 in Sunflower [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Hybrid breeding in sunflowers based on CMS PET1 requires development of restorer lines carrying, in most cases, the restorer gene Rf1. Markers for marker-assisted selection have been developed, but there is still need for closer, more versatile, and co ...

KASP Markers Specific for the Fertility Restorer Locus Rf1 and Application for Genetic Purity Testing in Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus L.) [PDF]

open access: yesGenes, 2022
Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were significantly associated with fertility restoration of cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) PET1 by the restorer gene Rf1.

A novel mutation in ribosomal protein S4 thataffects the function of a mutated RF1

open access: yesBiochimie, 2000
Release factors (RF) 1 and 2 trigger the hydrolysis of the peptide from the peptidyl-tRNA during translation termination. RF1 binds to the ribosome in response to the stop codons UAG and UAA, whereas RF2 recognizes UAA and UGA.

Comprehensive characterization of human brain‐derived extracellular vesicles using multiple isolation methods: Implications for diagnostic and therapeutic applications

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 12, Issue 8, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have emerged as critical mediators of intercellular communication and promising biomarkers and therapeutics in the central nervous system (CNS). Human brain‐derived EVs (BDEVs) provide a comprehensive snapshot of physiological changes in the brain's environment, however, the isolation of BDEVs and the comparison of

Compendium of proteins containing segments that exhibit zero‐tolerance to amino acid variation in humans

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 31, Issue 9, September 2022., 2022
Abstract Genetic missense tolerance ratio (MTR) analysis systematically evaluates all possible segments in a given protein‐encoding transcript found in the human population. This method scores each segment for the number of observed missense variants versus the number of silent mutations in that same segment.

UNC5C Receptor Proteolytic Cleavage by Active AEP Promotes Dopaminergic Neuronal Degeneration in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 9, Issue 7, March 4, 2022., 2022
Netrin‐1 is reduced in the brains of Parkinson's disease (PD) patients and PD genetic and neurotoxin mouse models, accompanied with prominent asparagine endopeptidase (AEP) activation and UNC5C fragmentation. Netrin‐1 deprivation in primary cultures induces AEP and caspase‐3 activation, triggering UNC5C fragmentation and neuronal loss.

Otorhinolaryngology Out-Patient Practice in the “Post”-COVID-19 Era: Ensuring a Balance Between Service and Safety

open access: yesPhilippine Journal of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, 2020
Objective: To review available resources and provide evidence-based recommendations that may optimize otorhinolaryngologic out-patient health care delivery in the “post”-COVID-19 era while ensuring the safety of our patients, healthcare workers and staff.

Inflammatory Pseudotumor of the Maxillary Sinus

open access: yesPhilippine Journal of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, 2009
Inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) is a rarely occurring lesion with no identifiable local or systemic cause. First described in 1905 by Birch-Hirschfield,1 it remains somewhat of an enigmatic disease entity despite multiple otolaryngologic, radiologic, and ...
