Superconducting microfabricated ion traps

open access: yes, 2010
We fabricate superconducting ion traps with niobium and niobium nitride and trap single 88Sr ions at cryogenic temperatures. The superconducting transition is verified and characterized by measuring the resistance and critical current using a 4-wire ...

Flexoelectrically Induced Polar Topology in Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted SrTiO3 bilayers host polar vortices of flexoelectric origin, revealed through combined experiment and theory. By reconstructing polarization from the toroidal moment of strain gradients, the work establishes a 3D chiral state with broken inversion and mirror symmetries.

Metamaterial Antennas Enhance MRI of the Eye and Occipital Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A radiofrequency antenna platform comprising planar and bend configurations is developed, incorporating structurally integrated epsilon‐negative metamaterial unit cells to enhance MRI. These antennas enable high‐resolution in vivo human MRI of the eye, orbit, and occipital brain. Comprehensive validation, including simulations, phantom experiments, SAR,

Oxygen‐Inhibition Driven Compartmentalization of Dextran Microgels: Toward Fusible Colloidal Biomaterial Inks for 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Harnessing oxygen inhibition as a materials design principle enables the universal fabrication of core–shell microgels with tunable radial crosslinking gradients. This conceptually simple yet highly versatile strategy generates fusible colloidal bioinks that combine structural hierarchy with adaptive porosity.

Electric‐Current‐Assisted Nucleation of Zero‐Field Hopfion Rings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports a novel and efficient nucleation protocol for 3D localized topological magnetic solitons‐hopfion rings in chiral magnets using pulsed electric currents. By using Lorentz transmission electron microscopy and topological analysis, we report characteristic features and extraordinary stability of hopfion rings in zero or inverted external

Evolution of Electrothermal Heating and Dielectric Properties of Phenolic Resins During Pyrolysis

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering
Electrothermal heating generated via radio frequency (RF) fields is used to probe the transformation of phenolic resin to a carbon matrix during pyrolysis.

Design of an X-Band Accelerating Structure for the CLIC Main Linac [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The rf design of an accelerating structure for the CLIC main linac is presented. The 12 GHz structure is designed to provide 100 MV/m average accelerating gradient with an rf-to-beam efficiency as high as 27.7 %.
