Beyond the Lab: Cognitive Neuroscience in Real‐World Contexts
Cognitive neuroscience often assumes that using laboratory animals, model species, and digital simulations enables generalizations from lab to wild, from animals to humans, and from virtual to physical. We challenge these assumptions and call for refining ecological validity along three dimensions: subject phenotype, task naturalness, and environmental

A Conceptual Framework and Methods for Studying the Connectivity of Fishes
ABSTRACT Connectivity is a multifaceted concept that has important implications for the management and conservation of marine and freshwater fishes. We developed a conceptual framework that encompasses multiple, interrelated categories of connectedness, including landscape (e.g., structural, functional) connectivity and ecological (e.g., trophic ...

Locating nests of endangered bumble bees: Lessons from field trials in northern Germany
Tracking bumble bees to find their nests using coloured strips of paper stuck to their thorax proved to be the most suitable method, while radio transponders were too heavy. Tracking times of up to 2 h and distances of up to 800 m were achieved with strips of pink craft tissue paper.
