In this chapter, the design of a printed RFID tag in S2S technology is presented. The design includes the front-end circuitry for power scavenging, envelope detection and clock and data recovery. In addition, the digital design to implement the RFID based on a “silent tag” communication protocol is shown.

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, 2010
SAW tags were invented more than 30 years ago, but only today are the conditions united for mass application of this technology. The devices in the 2.4-GHz ISM band can be routinely produced with optical lithography, high-resolution radar systems can be built up using highly sophisticated, but low-cost RF-chips, and the Internet is available for global

Ranging RFID Tags With Ultrasound
IEEE Sensors Journal, 2018Indoor localization and tracking of persons and assets with centimeter-level accuracy for inventory, security, medical monitoring, and training, as well as gesture interfaces for domotics, is highly desirable in the framework of the emerging IoT paradigm. Low cost, tiny, battery, or batteryless operated position sensors are required.

Private Identification of RFID Tags
2012A lightweight identification mechanism is proposed for RFID systems in which the privacy of tags is protected against unknown readers. Private identification of RFID tags allows authorized readers to easily identify the tags. The identity of the tag is secure across multiple readers, and unknown readers will not be able to trace the tag throughout the ...

Lightweight Cryptography for RFID Tags
IEEE Security & Privacy Magazine, 2012At first glance, combining the terms "cryptography" and "lightweight" might invite you to think about a lack of security. However, here the combination refers to suitable cryptography for limited devices for which trade offs between performance, security, and cost are highly important.

IEEE Annual Conference on Pervasive Computing and Communications Workshops, 2004. Proceedings of the Second, 2004
RFID (radio-frequency identification) tags are small, inexpensive microchips capable of transmitting unique identifiers wirelessly over a short distance. Thanks to their utility in automating supply-chain logistics, RFID tags promise eventually to supplant the optical barcode as a means of identifying goods.

RFID Tag Vulnerabilities in RFID Systems
2008More than half a century after its inception, radiofrequency identification (RFID) technologies are finally living up to their long promised capabilities. They are being rewarded with pervasive deployments in closed loop applications and the initial deployments in the even more pervasive open loop supply chain management applications.

An Ultra-Light PRNG for RFID Tags
2012This work presents a pseudo-random number generator for RFID tags. The proposed generator takes non-random seeds and produces output that passes popular randomness tests. The generator uses true random numbers extracted from a newly discovered property of the tag memories.
