Diversity in the genusRhabdias(Nematoda, Rhabdiasidae): Evidence for cryptic speciation
Zoologica Scripta, 2018AbstractLungworms from the genusRhabdiasare common parasites of amphibians and reptiles distributed worldwide. To assess the diversity ofRhabdiasspp., we performed molecular analyses of 35 specimens sampled in different regions of Brazil. Molecular analyses were based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS), large subunit (28S) ribosomal and the ...

Revision of Entomelas Travassos, 1930 (Nematoda: Rhabdiasidae) with a review of genera in the family
Systematic Parasitology, 1980Entomelas entomelas (Dujardin, 1845) Travassos, 1930, the type species of Entomelas, is redescribed based on specimens from Anguis fragilis and Ophisaurus apodus. The generic diagnosis is emended. E. dujardini (Maupas, 1916) Travassos, 1930, Paraentomelas kazachstanika (Sharpilo & Vakker, 1972) Sharpilo, 1976 and Hexadontophorus ophisauri Kreis, 1939 ...

Entomelas campbelli n. sp. (Rhabdiasidae) from the lungs of Barisia imbricata and Mesaspis gadovii (Sauria) and Entomelas floresvillelai n. sp. from B. imbricata, B. herrerae and M. viridiflava (Sauria) are described and illustrated. Both species are similar to E. duellmani in the equatorial location of vulva; E. campbelli resembles E.

The new species Entomelas kazachstanika is described, parasitizing in lungs of Ophisaurus apodus (P all.) in the Crimea, Transcaucasia and Middle Asia. The new species differs from the closest ??? one E. dujardini (M a u p a s in S e u r a t, 1916) in considerably less quantity of eggs without larvae, in much less body width, strongly developed glands ...

The free-living and parasitic development of Rhabdias spp. (Nematoda: Rhabdiasidae) in amphibians
Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1979Free-living development of Rhabdias americanus and Rhabdias ranae was heterogonic and development of infective larvae was by matricidal endotoky. Both species were experimentally transmitted by skin penetration. Development of R. americanus in Bufo americanus and R. ranae in Rana sylvatica was similar. Growth of third- and fourth-stage larvae occurred

This study describes the morphology of Rhabdias elegans Gutierrez, 1945, isolated from the lungs of the toad Rhinella arenarum (Hensel, 1867) from Lomas de Tafi Tucumán, Argentina. This is the first record of R. elegans in R. arenarum from northwestern Argentina as previously described Rhabdias truncata is a species inquirendae.
