Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment in Angiomatosis Retinae

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology, 1986
Three patients with von Hippel tumors of the retina developed rhegmatogenous retinal detachments caused by surface traction on the angioma. The break in each case was located at the posterior base of the angioma, between the afferent and efferent vessels.

Retrospective case series of high-density silicone oil (Oxane HD) in severe proliferative vitreorretinal retinal detachment patients

open access: yesInternational Journal of Retina and Vitreous
Background Describe complications and clinical outcomes of heavy silicone oil (HSO) Oxane HD® use as an alternative to overcome the challenges of performing vitrectomy to treat tractional and rhegmatogenous retinal detachments with proliferative ...

Advances in the treatment of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
The pathogenesis of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment depends on three factors, namely, retinal rupture, vitreous liquefaction and traction causing the retina to separate from the pigment epithelium, among which retinal rupture is the most important.

Concurrent management of myopic choroidal neovascularization and rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with intravitreal antivascular endothelial growth factor during primary retinal detachment repair

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2018
We report concurrent management of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and myopic choroidal neovascularization in the left eye of a 24-year-old female who presented with sudden dimness of vision due to retinal detachment and choroidal neovascularization ...

Biomarkers for PVR in rhegmatogenous retinal detachment

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2019
Various profibrotic and proinflammatory cytokines have been found upregulated in uncomplicated primary retinal detachment (pRD), but without providing a uniform picture. Here, we compare the cyto- and chemokine profiles in pRD with and without proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) in an attempt to unravel relevant differences not in single cytokines ...

Ozurdex(R) (a slow-release dexamethasone implant) in proliferative vitreoretinopathy: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) is the commonest cause of late anatomical failure in rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Visual and anatomical outcomes remain poor despite advances in vitreoretinal surgical techniques with reported primary failure ...

Leopard spot retinopathy represents the initial sign of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment in children: a report of two cases

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology
Background Leopard spots can appear in a variety of diseases; however, they are extremely rare in children with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. This study presents two such rare cases in which leopard spot retinopathy was the initial manifestation of ...
