Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment in Infancy

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1977
A 5-week-old male infant had small stature, microphthalmia, bilateral rhegmatogenous retinal detachments, ventricular septal defect, and fundus lesions suggestive of previous chorioretinitis. Diagnostic workup failed to disclose a cause of the intraocular disorder.

VITRECTOMY FOR DIABETIC RHEGMATOGENOUS RETINAL DETACHMENT

Retina, 1983
The surgical results for 107 eyes that underwent vitrectomy for diabetic rhegmatogenous retinal detachment showed that the rhegmatogenous component of the detachment was successfully treated in 79 eyes (74%), although in 11 of the 79 eyes (14%) traction detachment of the macula persisted.

Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment

2016
Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) is elevation of the retina from the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) by clear, accumulated fluid in the subretinal space associated with retinal break(s) or predisposingretinal lesions. The RRD often extends to the ora early with convex borders; the fluid is gravity dependent.

[Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment].

La Revue du praticien, 1997
Among all the types of retinal detachments, the most common are rhegmatogenous detachments, as defined by the presence of a break in the retina. This is the predominant factor in their mechanism. For this reason, treatment is exclusively surgical and consists of sealing the retinal holes by adhesion. The main cause is modification of the vitreous fluid

Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment 1

2021
Strictly speaking, “retinal detachment” is a misnomer. The term denotes the separation of the neuroepithelium from the pigment epithelium (rather than detachment of the retina, which consists of the neuroepithelium and the RPE, from the choroid) and therefore implies re-establishment of the space between the original layers of the embryonic optic cup ...

Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment: Prophylaxis

1999
The object of prophylaxis is to prevent retinal detachment. Study of this subject has been neglected and as a result too many patients (approximately 50%) present with retinal detachment which has involved the macula. In many of these patients premonitory symptoms preceding the onset of the retinal detachment have been ignored either by the patients or
