Wall Adhesion and Constitutive Modelling of Strong Colloidal Gels
Wall adhesion effects during batch sedimentation of strongly flocculated colloidal gels are commonly assumed to be negligible. In this study in-situ measurements of colloidal gel rheology and solids volume fraction distribution suggest the contrary ...

Natural convection of viscoplastic fluids in side-heated open cavities
This study considers the natural convection process of viscoplastic fluid in a side-open cavity filled with conductive solid blocks, which are uniformly distributed and form a square lattice.

Rheology of Active-Particle Suspensions
We study the interplay of activity, order and flow through a set of coarse-grained equations governing the hydrodynamic velocity, concentration and stress fields in a suspension of active, energy-dissipating particles. We make several predictions for the

Smart Nanogels as Enzyme‐Driven Nanomotors for Navigating Viscous Physiological Barriers
Two families of urease‐powered nanomotors (NMs), with and without a p‐(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (p‐HEMA) shell, have been successfully prepared. Both types exhibit effective motion in highly viscous synovial fluid media at low urea concentrations (25 mM).

Shear induced normal stress differences in aqueous foams
A finite simple shear deformation of an elastic solid induces unequal normal stresses. This nonlinear phenomenon, known as the Poynting effect, is governed by a universal relation between shear strain and first normal stresses difference, valid for non ...
