Rheumatoid Factors and Rheumatoid Arthritis

Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, 1988
Rheumatoid factors (RFs) are autoantibodies which bind the Fc region of IgG (1, 2). They can be induced in experimental animals by B cell mitogens and by immunization with a variety of different an...

Rheumatoid Factor

Rheumatic Disease Clinics of North America, 1987
Many human RF-associated crossreactive idiotypes (CRIs) have been defined. Since these CRIs probably are the phenotypic markers of Ig variable region genes, the data suggest that human RFs employ several Ig variable region genes which are common among outbred human populations.

Rheumatoid factors

Clinical Biochemistry, 1993
Rheumatoid factors (RFs) have been studied for over 50 years and are probably the most written about of any antibody. Nevertheless, the etiology of these RFs and the precise role they play in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) remain a major interest.

Imipramine, rheumatoid arthritis and rheumatoid factor

Current Medical Research and Opinion, 1977
SummaryA double-blind placebo-controlled trial was carried out in 20 patients with classical rheumatoid arthritis to study the effect of imipramine on rheumatoid factor titres. Patients were allocated at random to receive 6-weeks treatment with imipramine, in low dosage, or placebo in addition to their antirheumatic medication.

The rheumatoid factors

Journal of Chronic Diseases, 1963
GENERAL reviews of rheumatoid arthritis serology summarized knowledge as of 1957 and 1959 [l, 21. The Current Status of the Rheumutoid Factor was the title of a publication appearing early in 1962 [3]. It is the author’s aim to emphasize developments of the past 3 years within the framework of a limited general review.

Rheumatoid factors in rheumatoid arthritis and vasculitis

Rheumatology International, 1985
To study the occurrence of rheumatoid factors (RF) in relation to the activity of rheumatoid arthritis and the occurrence of vasculitis, RF of IgM, IgA, and IgG classes were measured in sera from 35 patients with definite or classic rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using ELISA.

Purification of the rheumatoid factor

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1964
Abstract A preparation of rheumatoid factor was obtained from a pooled rheumatoid serum by absorption to diphtheria toxoid-human antitoxin precipitate, subsequent elution by lowering the pH, and gel nitration of the eluent. The isolated rheumatoid factor was homogeneous in the analytical ultracentrifuge and in immunoelectropho-resis.

IgE rheumatoid factor [PDF]

open access: possibleExperientia, 1981
A solid phase enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detecting class-specific rheumatoid factors (RF) has been devised. IgE RF, which has not been reported yet, was found in sera from 3 of approximately 100 rheumatoid patients.

Rheumatoid Factors

2014
Rheumatoid factors (RFs) are autoantibodies reacting against the Fc region of immunoglobulin (Ig)G. RFs are the first autoantibodies described in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), although they are also present in several other autoimmune diseases, in infectious conditions, as well as in healthy subjects.
