The Future of RHIC

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2009
The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at BNL is in the middle of a multi‐year upgrade program to prepare the facility for its second decade of operation. Upgrades to improve the accelerator luminosity, proton polarization and the physics capabilities of the PHENIX and STAR experiments will continue for the next 4–5 years.

RHIC performance

Nuclear Physics A, 2002
The Brookhaven Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) is the first hadron accelerator and collider consisting of two independent rings. It is designed to operate at high collision luminosity over a wide range of beam energies and with particle species ranging from polarized protons to heavy ions.

The RHIC sequencer

PACS2001. Proceedings of the 2001 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. No.01CH37268), 2002
The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) has a high level asynchronous time-line driven by a controlling program called the 'Sequencer'. Most high-level magnet and beam related issues are orchestrated by this system. The system also plays an important task in coordinated data acquisition and saving.

The future of RHIC

Nuclear Physics A, 2006
The future program of Brookhaven National Laboratory's Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) is driven by the program's accomplishments to date. Science-based plans to evolve the facility's capabilities, both the accelerator and the detectors, are discussed.

QCD and RHIC

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2004
In this talk I discuss recent advances in Quantum Chromo‐Dynamics, in particular the progress in understanding the collective dynamics of the theory. I emphasise the significance of the RHIC program for establishing the properties of hot and dense QCD matter and for understanding the dynamics of the theory at the high parton density, strong color field

RHIC status

Proceedings of the 1997 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. No.97CH36167), 2002
The design and construction status of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, RHIC, which is in the seventh year of a nine year construction cycle, is discussed. Those novel performance features of a heavy ion collider that are distinct from hadron colliders in general are noted.
