RHINOBATIDAE Glaucostegus halavi (Forsskål, 1775) , was erroneously recorded by Vinciguerra (1884) in the Gulf of Tunis (see Quignard & Capapé, 1971). Tortonese (1951) reported the species from the Mediterranean coast of Egypt but it was not confirmed by Ben Tuvia (1966).

Complete mitogenome of the brown guitarfish Rhinobatos schlegelii (Rajiformes, Rhinobatidae)
Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2014The complete mitochondrial genome of the brown guitarfish Rhinobatos schlegelii is presented for the first time in this study. It is 16,780 bp in length, consisting 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes and 1 putative control region with the typical gene order and direction of transcription in vertebrates. The overall base composition is

Acroteriobatus omanensis (Batoidea: Rhinobatidae), a new guitarfish from the Gulf of Oman
Zootaxa, 2016The recently resurrected genus Acroteriobatus is represented in the western Indian Ocean by eight species, including a new guitarfish Acroteriobatus omanensis sp. nov. This small species (reaching ~60 cm TL) was discovered off Oman in an investigation of the chondrichthyan fauna of the Arabian in 2002 and 2003. Its distinctiveness from other members of

Feeding habits of the speckled guitarfish Rhinobatos glaucostigma (Elasmobranchii: Rhinobatidae)
Journal of Fish Biology, 2015The stomachs of 464 speckled guitarfish Rhinobatos glaucostigma were sampled from the south‐eastern Gulf of California (GC) to determine diet composition. Numerical indices and prey‐specific index of relative importance (%IPSIR) were used to determine the feeding strategy of the species.
