Hairs and vibrissae in the Rhinocerotidae

Evidence is reviewed and observations are submitted concerning the occurrence and distribution of body hair in rhinoceroses. Absence of externally visible hair is shown to be not necessarily indicative of absence of hair follicles and to be part of a morphological cooling mechanism necessitated by the dynamics of the large body.

Comparative Morphology and Evolution of Teleoceras (Mammalia: Rhinocerotidae)

The teleoceratines were members of the last wave of rhino immigrants to North America, and together with the genus Aphelops, represent the last rhinos on the North American continent. Teleoceras was a hippo-like rhinoceros that existed from the early Barstovian to the late Hemphillian land-mammal age.

Rhinocerotidae from Paşalar, middle Miocene of Anatolia (Turkey)

Abstract Rhinocerotid remains from the middle Miocene Anatolian locality at Pasalar are described, and referred to Begertherium tekkayai, Aceratherium sp. aff. tetradactylum, and Brachypotherium brachypus. Begertherium tekkayai (= Beliajevina tekkayai HEISSIG) is only known from this locality.

Ancak geniş bir zaman aralığa dağılan ve sistematik revizyonları sorunlu olan kimi faunaların da bilimsel çalışmalar arasında yer aldığı anlaşılmıştır.
