Contemporary Rhinomanometry

The Journal of Otolaryngology, 2006
By contrast with the smoked drum and other mechanical systems, modern electronic rhinomanometers provide superior sensitivity and frequency response. They enable accurate measurement of nasal airflow resistance to be made and are commercially available.

Rhinomanometry and septoplasty

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1982
Abstract36 Patients showing increased nasal resistance were investigated before and after septoplasty. A simple method of evaluating the rhinomanometric curve has been applied. The patients were operated on consecutively in 1978–79 by the authors. Three months after operation they were followed up regarding nasal anatomy and nasal resistance.

Rhinomanometry in children

International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, 1989
During the period January 1982 to December 1985 nasal resistance (NR) was measured by computer-assisted 'head-out' plethysmography in 986 patients aged 4-18 years referred to the Airflow Laboratory at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. Nasal resistance was found to decline with increasing age, and it was elevated in the presence of mucosal ...

On Rhinomanometry in Rhinoplasty

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1988
Changes in nasal obstruction, nasal airway resistance, and postoperative nose appearance were evaluated in 92 rhinoplasty patients. Fifty-six patients had a deviation of their nose from the midline preoperatively. They were improved according to rhinomanometry whether the rhinoplasty was combined with a functional septoplasty or with a submucous ...

Rhinomanometry – A Review

ORL, 1984
After a short historical review, the advantages and disadvantages of the current rhinomanometric methods are discussed. In addition, the merits of spirometry or measurements of the air velocity are considered. The physics of nasal ventilation are described and the difficulty in nasal resistance measurement is studied.

Rhinomanometry

Allergy, 1997
The importance of nasal obstruction is stressed as one of the cardinal symptoms in allergic rhinitis and the major symptom of the late phase reaction; therefore the objective measurement of this symptom is of the utmost importance. The international committee on objective assessment of the nasal airway advocated rhinomanometry as a reliable method for ...

Rhinomanometry in routine allergen challenge

Clinical Otolaryngology, 1985
Ten patients with allergic rhinitis due to grass pollen were challenged out of season with increasing concentrations of a well defined grass pollen extract. The reactions to challenge were followed by active anterior rhinomanometry at rest and just after exercise, rhinoscopy, counting of sneezes, measurement of secretion, and registration of the ...
