Abstract Rates of rubella infection and congenital rubella syndrome decreased significantly since the introduction of the rubella vaccine in 1969. Endemic rubella was declared eliminated in the United States in 2004, and since 2012, all rubella cases in the United States have been associated with infections acquired abroad.

Our case highlights an uncommon cause of CSF rhinorrhea. The patient was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis and appropriately treated after which, she developed unilateral rhinorrhea followed by non-productive cough.

Anterior nasal nerves (ANNs) were identified in all cadavers, with more supplying the anterolateral nasal wall (ALNW) than the anterior portion of the inferior turbinate (IT), between the pyriform aperture (PA) and middle turbinate (MT).
