A cross‐sectional study was conducted from December 2020 to July 2021 on Ixodid tick infestation and tick borne haemopathogens in North West Ethiopia. The overall prevalence of Ixodid tick infestation and tick borne haemopathogens were 45% and 3%, respectively. Babesia bigemina was the only haemoparasite detected in the present survey.

Malathion resistance in Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus from Ludhiana district, Punjab [PDF]
The resistance status of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus collected from Noorpur Bet village of Ludhiana district, Punjab was evaluated against malathion by Adult Immersion Test. The adult female ticks showed an upward trend in the mortality percentage with increase in drug concentration.

Three genera of ticks were identified, Rhipicephalus, Amblyomma, and Hyalomma representing 71.04%, 15.99%, and 12.64% of tick species respectively. Ticks were more predominant during the rainy than the dry season, with Rhipicephalus spp. abundant during the rainy season and Hyalomma spp. during the dry season.

Reinstatement of rhipicephalus (Boophilus) australis (Acari: Ixodidae) with redescription of the adult and larval stages [PDF]
Rhipicephalus australis Fuller, the Australian cattle tick, is reinstated and the adults and larvae redescribed from material collected in Australia. This long ignored boophilid was previously known as R.

The Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus tick is the main ectoparasite of cattle in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. Resistance to chemical acaricides has become widespread affirming the need for new drugs to tick control. Terpenes have become a promising alternative for cattle tick control, however the mechanism of action of these compounds ...

Immunogenic potential of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus aquaporin 1 against Rhipicephalus sanguineus in domestic dogs [PDF]
Abstract This study evaluated a recombinant aquaporin 1 protein of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (RmAQP1) as antigen in a vaccine against R. sanguineus. Five dogs were immunized with RmAQP1 (10 µg) + adjuvant (Montanide) (G1), and five were inoculated with adjuvant only (G2), three times.

Rhipicephalus microplus serine protease inhibitor family: annotation, expression and functional characterisation assessment [PDF]
Background: Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus evades the host's haemostatic system through a complex protein array secreted into tick saliva. Serine protease inhibitors (serpins) conform an important component of saliva which are represented by a large

Immunoprotective potential of a Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus metalloprotease
Ticks have serious impacts on animal and human health, causing significant economic losses in cattle breeding. Besides damage due to the hematophagous behavior, they transmit several pathogens. Low cost and environmental safety have made vaccines a promising alternative control method against tick infestation.
