Isolation of the monooxygenase complex from Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus:Clues to understanding acaricide resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The monooxygenase complex is composed of three key proteins, a cytochrome P450 (CYP), the cytochrome P450 oxidoreductase (CPR) and cytochrome b5 and plays a key role in the metabolism and detoxification of xenobiotic substances, including pesticides.

Immunogenic potential of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus aquaporin 1 against Rhipicephalus sanguineus in domestic dogs [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Parasitologia Veterinária, 2017
Abstract This study evaluated a recombinant aquaporin 1 protein of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (RmAQP1) as antigen in a vaccine against R. sanguineus. Five dogs were immunized with RmAQP1 (10 µg) + adjuvant (Montanide) (G1), and five were inoculated with adjuvant only (G2), three times.

Ticks and tick‐borne bacterial pathogens found on hard ticks (Acari: Ixodidae) on cattle in the Central River region of The Gambia

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
First detection of Ehrlichia minasensis, Anaplasma marginale and hemotropic Mycoplasma spp. in cattle in The Gambia. Identification of four tick species, with Hyalomma marginatum being the most common. 15.6% of ticks tested positive for tick‐borne pathogens, including Ehrlichia spp., A. marginale and hemotropic Mycoplasma spp.

In silico analysis for identification of tick phagotopes selected by phage-displayed libraries Análises in sílico na identificação de fagotopos de carrapatos selecionados por bibliotecas de phage display

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Parasitologia Veterinária, 2009
Phage display techniques have been widely employed to map epitope structures which have served as the basis for developing molecular vaccines. We have applied this technique to map specific epitopes of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus.

Identification of a mutation in the para-sodium channel gene of the cattle tick Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus associated with resistance to synthetic pyrethroid acaricides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Resistance against synthetic pyrethroid (SP) products for the control of cattle ticks in Australia was detected in the field in 1984, within a very short time of commercial introduction.

Identification and distribution of Rhipicephalus microplus in selected high-cattle density districts in Uganda: signaling future demand for novel tick control approaches

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research
Background Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (Canestrini, 1888), the Asian blue tick, is a highly invasive and adaptable ectoparasite. This tick species has successfully established itself in most regions of the world, with movement of cattle being a ...

Prevalence, Species Diversity, and Risk Factors of Tick Infestation in Cattle From District Peshawar, Pakistan

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 6, November 2025.
This study documents the prevalence and risk factors of cattle tick infestation in District Peshawar using morphological and molecular identification. Ecological diversity indices reveal moderate tick diversity, while risk factor analysis highlights breed, age, and sex as significant predictors of infestation.

Reevaluating the presence of Rhipicephalus australis (Acari: Ixodidae) in Southeast Asia: A phylogenetic approach based on Cambodian tick samples

open access: yesTicks and Tick-Borne Diseases
Morphological variability between Rhipicephalus australis and R. microplus has led to taxonomic ambiguity, leading to species misidentification. Rhipicephalus australis is reported to have a distribution range in Pacific Ocean region extending to several

Species composition, diversity and predilection sites of ticks (Acari: Ixodidae) infesting cattle in the Western Highlands of Cameroon [PDF]

open access: yesArthropods, 2021
Ticks are haematophagous ectoparasites infesting wilds and domestic animals as well as humans and, are considered after mosquitoes to be the principal vectors for the transmission of various pathogens.
