Experimental infection of Rickettsia parkeri in the Rhipicephalus microplus tick
This study aimed to evaluate, by means of artificial feeding, the interaction between a pathogenic rickettsia and the hard tick R. microplus. We used partially engorged females fed on calves free of Rickettsia spp. Group 1 (G1), containing 20 ticks, was fed bovine blood only.

The screen of small molecule analogs identifies new non‐cytotoxic antagonists of the tick kinin receptor with inhibitory myotropic activity on the midgut. Abstract BACKGROUND A GPCR (G protein‐coupled receptor) target‐based approach was applied to identify antagonists of the arthropod‐specific tick kinin receptor. These small molecules were expected to

Abstract This study investigates the mosquitocidal potential of crude petroleum ether extract fractions derived from Gloriosa superba against the dengue mosquito vector Aedes aegypti. Chemical profiling through gas chromatography identified four major metabolites, with nonadecane showing the highest peak area percentage (70.34%).

The presence of α‐Gal epitope ( was confirmed by the presence of reactive proteins of >250 kDa in samples from engorged and unfed H. lusitanicum ticks. The highest concentrations of α‐Gal were detected in salivary glands. Neither sex nor diet influenced the concentration of α‐Gal, which seems to indicate its endogenous production and its possible ...
