Alternative Approaches and Plant‐Based Remedies for Livestock Health Management Among the Batswana of Southern Africa: A Review

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Due to limited access to, and the high cost of conventional veterinary services, Batswana communities often rely on ethnoveterinary practices for livestock health management. This review provides an in‐depth analysis on the ethnoveterinary uses, biological properties and safety assessment of plants utilised in livestock husbandry. A systematic

Biochemical Characterization of a Kunitz‐Type Protease Inhibitor From Mimosa regnellii and Its Effects on Melanoma Cell Viability and Angiogenesis

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 4, April 2026.
A Kunitz‐type serine protease inhibitor (JTI) purified from Mimosa regnellii seeds selectively targets melanoma cells. JTI triggers mitochondrial apoptosis, increases ROS and Ca2+ levels, arrests the cell cycle, and suppresses migration and angiogenesis without affecting healthy cells.

Early Tick Species Identification Using Eschar‐Based PCR to Guide Presymptomatic Risk Assessment in Tick‐Borne Diseases

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT In endemic regions where simultaneous larval tick bites frequently occur, early identification of tick species from eschar lesions may substantially influence presymptomatic clinical triage. We report a 78‐year‐old woman who was found after approximately 24 h of wandering, presenting with multiple clustered eschars on the lower extremities and

Isolation of the monooxygenase complex from Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus:Clues to understanding acaricide resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The monooxygenase complex is composed of three key proteins, a cytochrome P450 (CYP), the cytochrome P450 oxidoreductase (CPR) and cytochrome b5 and plays a key role in the metabolism and detoxification of xenobiotic substances, including pesticides.

Acaricidal activity of essential oils of Cinnamomum zeylanicum and Eremanthus erythropappus, major compounds and cinnamyl acetate in Rhipicephalus microplus.

open access: yesRevista brasileira de parasitologia veterinaria = Brazilian journal of veterinary parasitology : Orgao Oficial do Colegio Brasileiro de Parasitologia Veterinaria, 2021
This study aimed to chemically characterize the essential oils (EOs) of Cinnamomum zeylanicum (cinnamon) and Eremanthus erythropappus (candeia) and evaluate their acaricidal activity, together with that of their major compounds and cinnamyl acetate ...
