Especiação de metais-traço em sedimentos de florestas de manguezais com Avicennia e Rhizophora Metal speciation under Rhizophora and Avicennia mangles

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2000
Speciation studies of Fe, Cr, Co, Ni and Cu on reactive fraction (adsorved on oxides, hydroxides, carbonates and clay minerals) and pyrite were performed in Avicennia schaueriana and Rhizophora mangle sediments from Amapá shoreline-Brazil. The soil under

Dosimetric analysis of Rhizophora-based phantom material in radiation therapy applications using Monte Carlo GATE simulation

open access: yesJournal of Medical Physics, 2023
Purpose: This study aims to determine the percentage depth dose (PDD) of a phantom material made from soy-lignin bonded Rhizophora spp. particleboard coated with a gloss finish by using Monte Carlo Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission (GATE ...

Speciation with gene flow

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Biodiversity is threatened by human activities, with extinction debt accumulating rapidly. Many of these activities change the connectivity of populations, fragmenting existing population systems or bringing previously isolated populations or species into contact.

Revealing Microplastic Contamination in Mangrove Sediments from Setiu Wetlands, Malaysia

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry
Mangrove ecosystems are vital for biodiversity conservation and coastal protection, serving as significant sinks for microplastics by trapping debris from both land and marine sources.

Anticancer Activity of Rhizophora mucronata Leaves Extract on Sprague–Dawley Rats: In Vivo Model

open access: yesJournal of Toxicology, 2023
Medicinal plants are now used to treat cancer due to the presence of bioactive compounds. Apart from the plants, mangroves also possess rich bioactive compounds with high medicinal activity. Based on the ethnobotanical attributes of Rhizophora mucronata,

Climate‐Driven Mangrove Dieback and Recovery: A Case Study in Albert and Leichhardt Rivers, Australia

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Cycles of dieback and recovery drove mangrove forest dynamics at the Albert and Leichhardt Rivers (Gulf of Carpentaria, Queensland, Australia) over 36 years (1987–2023). Landward margins were the most affected by reduced tidal inundation when the alignment of low lunar declination suppressed tidal range and extreme El Niño phases lowered mean sea level.

Insights into diet and niche separation in the context of prey availability between two sympatric whiprays in a tropical intertidal estuary

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Increasing evidence supports associations between various elasmobranch species and estuarine habitats, particularly during early life stages. However, with substantial knowledge gaps surrounding spatial habitat use and trophic ecology of estuary‐associated species in Australia, we cannot reliably assess the functional importance of these areas

Dinoflagellate responses to nutrients and mangrove leaf organic matter in the bioluminescent Mangrove Lagoon, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract Bioluminescent bays (biobays) are uncommon coastal ecosystems featuring dense populations of dinoflagellates, often found in mangrove‐ringed lagoons with long water retention times and high organic matter (OM) levels. Although mangroves are associated with high dinoflagellate abundance, it remains uncertain how inorganic nutrients compare with

The genus Rhizophora in Suriname [PDF]

open access: yesActa Botanica Neerlandica, 1959
The peculiar distribution of the species of Rhizophora (Rhizophoraceae) is wellknown. Floras and manuals usually mention one western species — R. mangle L. — that occurs both in the coastal regions of tropical and subtropical America and in the corresponding habitats of west tropical Africa, and an eastern species — R. mucronata Lam.
