Successful prevention of post-transfusion Rh alloimmunization by intravenous Rho (D) immune globulin (WinRho SD) [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, 1999
Alloimmunization to the D blood group antigen following the transfusion of D-positive red blood cells to a D-negative recipient may be prevented in most persons by a prompt and adequate dose of Rho (D) immune globulin (RhIG). Until recently, the only RhIG approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for this indication required intramuscular ...

Established and Emerging Biomarkers to Characterize Persons at Risk for Obesity—Paving the Way for Targeted Clinical Intervention Trials—A Comprehensive Position Paper

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite all efforts, obesity remains a major health concern worldwide, with continuously increasing rates, affecting approx. 14% of the total world population, being as high as 43% in some countries. As obesity is related to numerous comorbidities, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and some types of cancer, the consequences ...

Assessment of faecal calprotectin in neonatal calf diarrhoea using a human ELISA kit: Associations with faecal score and serum biochemical markers

open access: yesVeterinary Record Open, Volume 13, Issue 2, December 2026.
Abstract Background Diarrhoea in newborn calves, which occurs in the first month of life and is caused by various pathogens, poses a significant threat to livestock industries. Therefore, timely diagnosis of enteritis in calves can be advantageous. Objective This study aimed to determine the efficacy of faecal calprotectin as a biomarker indicating ...

Systemic impact of intramuscular snake envenomation and intravenous immunoglobulin‐based antivenom treatment on murine plasma proteome and peptidome

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Snake envenomation remains a critical global public health challenge. In Brazil, the genus Bothrops is responsible for most accidents, typically resulting in coagulopathy, hemorrhage, and renal failure. Despite its clinical prevalence, the molecular mechanisms driving plasma protein disturbances remain poorly understood.

Society for Maternal‐Fetal Medicine Statement: Evaluation and management of cell‐free DNA screening for fetal red cell antigen genotype in alloimmunized and non‐alloimmunized pregnancies

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 4, July 2026.
Abstract A substantial portion of RhD‐negative pregnant patients carry an RhD‐negative fetus and are not at risk of RhD alloimmunization. Knowing the fetal RhD genotype allows such patients to avoid unnecessary monitoring or treatment. The use of cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) to detect the fetal RhD genotype from maternal blood has been proposed to identify ...

An overview of recent advances in the prevention of erythroblastosis fetalis

open access: yesAsian Journal of Transfusion Science
Erythroblastosis fetalis is one of the leading causes of death among newborns and fetuses in India. This condition is characterized by maternal immunoglobin G antibodies destroying the red blood cells (RBCs) of the neonate or fetus, resulting in ...

Pathogenic Mechanisms of V. vulnificus and Its Role in the Development of Sepsis

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
Sorafenib attenuates urethral scar formation by inhibiting β‐catenin signaling in fibroblasts, which downregulates the SLC7A11/GPX4 antioxidant axis and triggers ferroptosis. This β‐catenin–ferroptosis coupling effectively suppresses fibrogenesis, highlighting sorafenib as a promising drug‐repurposing candidate for urethral stricture.

Rho(D) Immune Globulin (anti-D) Concentration-Time Curve After Antenatal Immunoprophylaxis in RhD-Negative Pregnant Women

open access: yes, 2021
Abstract Objectives: To assess anti-D concentration through maternal indirect antiglobulin test (IAT) titers and scores after RhD-negative pregnant women receive antenatal anti-D until delivery. Methods: Cross-sectional study. Twenty-seven RhD-negative pregnant women were evaluated after receiving a prenatal anti-D dose around 28th week of ...

Protein glycosylation in lung cancer from a mass spectrometry perspective

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 45, Issue 3, Page 455-475, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Lung cancer is a severe disease for which better diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are urgently needed. Increasing evidence implies that aberrant protein glycosylation plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis and progression of lung cancer.
