Abteilung Rhodophyta (Rotalgen)
1987Den Rotalgen fehlt eine nahere Verbindung zu den anderen Abteilungen. Sie sind uberwiegend marin und kommen vor allem in groseren Tiefen, bis zu 200 m, vor. Die Zellwand enthalt Zellulose und Pektin. Das letztere dominiert. Pektinartige Stoffe werden technisch verwendet (Agar, Carrageen, vgl. S. 32).
