The bird cherry-oat aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi (L.), is the most common aphid found on cereals. This species attacks all small grains including wheat, barley, oats and triticale, may also be found on sorghum and corn. It is also a vector of barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV).
