The impact of wildfire and mammal carcasses on beetle emergence from heathland soils

Staphylinidae were most abundant on carcasses in burnt heathlands; Elateridae and Curculionidae were more abundant in unburnt heathland. Emergence of scavenging beetles was not negatively affected by wildfires. Rare species of scavenging beetles were more abundant in burnt heathlands than unburnt.
