Sorting of Glossiphonia complanata (Linnaeus, 1758) (Rhynchobdellida: Glossiphoniidae) from three aquatic plants in Tigris River within Baghdad city

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Petroleum, 2017
The present study shows that the reason for isolation of Glossiphonia complanata from these aquatic plants was firstly founding of aquatic oligochaeta, snails and chironomidae that settled on aquatic plants as food.

Can artificial ecological islands alter the biodiversity of macroinvertebrate? A case study in Fujin National Wetland Park, the Sanjiang Plain, China

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 11, Issue 21, Page 14988-15003, November 2021., 2021
This paper proves that it is feasible to build artificial ecological islands in open water to increase the microhabitat heterogeneity and water‐level gradient as a means of ecological restoration, so as to provide more suitable habitats for aquatic organisms and thus increase the biological diversity of the ecosystem. Macrobenthos are the main food for

The activity of hydrolytic enzymes in the digestive system of Acanthobdellida, Branchiobdellida and Hirudinida (Annelida, Clitellata) – considerations on similarity and phylogeny

open access: yesThe European Zoological Journal, 2021
Activities of nineteen hydrolases were measured in the digestive systems of predatory and blood-feeding true leeches (Hirudinida) and their closest relatives, Branchiobdellida and Acanthobdellida.

Phylogenomic analyses reveal a Palaeozoic radiation and support a freshwater origin for clitellate annelids

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 49, Issue 5, Page 614-640, September 2020., 2020
Abstract Clitellata is a major clade of Annelida comprising nearly all freshwater and terrestrial annelids as well as several marine species. We investigated clitellate phylogenetic relationships using transcriptomes sampled from 74 taxa (64 clitellates and 10 polychaetes), including multiple representatives of nearly all major clitellate higher taxa ...
