Data Association Methodology to Improve Spatial Predictions in Alternative Marketing Circuits in Ecuador

open access: yesComputational Intelligence and Neuroscience, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
This work proposes a methodology that reduces the error of future estimations in commercialization based on multivariate spatial prediction techniques (cokriging) considering the products with strong associations. It is based on the Apriori algorithm to find association rules in sales of agricultural products of local markets.

On Colour, Category Effects, and Alzheimer’s Disease: A Critical Review of Studies and Further Longitudinal Evidence

open access: yesBehavioural Neurology, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
The role of colour in object recognition is controversial; in this study, a critical review of previous studies, as well as a longitudinal study, was conducted. We examined whether colour benefits the ability of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients and normal controls (NC) when naming items differing in colour diagnosticity: living things (LT) versus ...

The levels of RAC3 expression are up regulated by TNF in the inflammatory response

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 450-457, January 01, 2014., 2014
RAC3 is a coactivator of glucocorticoid receptor and nuclear factor‐κB (NF‐κB) that is usually over‐expressed in tumors and which also has important functions in the immune system. We investigated the role of the inflammatory response in the control of RAC3 expression levels in vivo and in vitro. We found that inflammation regulates RAC3 levels.

A qualitative case study of health system barriers and facilitators to living donor kidney transplantation in Canada's most populous province

open access: yesWorld Medical &Health Policy, Volume 17, Issue 1, Page 129-148, March 2025.
Abstract Patients with kidney failure need dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive. Living donor kidney transplantation (LDKT) is the best therapeutic option, yet global rates of LDKT have minimally increased, and there are disparities in access. The need for a systems approach to improvement has been highlighted.

“Beyond transcription: How post‐transcriptional mechanisms drive neural crest EMT”

open access: yesgenesis, Volume 62, Issue 1, February 2024.
Summary The neural crest is a stem cell population that originates from the ectoderm during the initial steps of nervous system development. Neural crest cells delaminate from the neuroepithelium by undergoing a spatiotemporally regulated epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) that proceeds in a coordinated wave head‐to‐tail to exit from the neural ...
