European Recommendations for Transitioning the Care of Patients With Multiple Myeloma Treated With B-Cell Maturation Antigen Bispecific Antibodies From Academic Hospitals to Community-Based Centers and for Outpatient Step-Up Dosing. [PDF]

open access: yesEJHaem
ABSTRACT Introduction Safe outpatient delivery of B‐cell maturation antigen–targeting bispecific antibodies (BCMA‐BsAbs) in multiple myeloma (MM) is challenging, particularly during step‐up dosing (SUD). Standardized guidance for European community practice is limited.

Density Functional Theory Studies on Li Metal Electrode/Garnet‐Type Li7La3Zr2O12 Solid Electrolyte Interfaces for Application in All‐Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), Volume 259, Issue 9, September 2022., 2022
Density functional theory calculations are performed for the interface model of Li metal and the Li7La3Zr2O12 fast Li ionic conductor. Electronic structural analysis confirms the electrochemical reactivity of Li7La3Zr2O12 against Li metal. In addition, it is found that Li metal is responsible for the charge compensation of delithiation from or ...

The importance of conserving Mexico's tomato agrodiversity to research plant biochemistry under different climates

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 3, Issue 6, Page 703-709, November 2021., 2021
Tomatoes are important to agriculture, human nutrition and cuisines globally. However, many commercial tomato varieties, including the saladette that dominates the North American market, are highly sensitive to environmental changes that impact yields and critical biochemical pathways including carotenoids and isoprenoids that influence nutritional ...

Perirenal fat thickness as a predictor of postoperative complications after laparoscopic distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer

open access: yesBJS Open, Volume 4, Issue 5, Page 865-872, October 2020., 2020
Perirenal fat thickness exhibited a significant correlation with visceral fat area. Furthermore, a positive perirenal fat thickness sign was associated with complications and was an independent risk factor after laparoscopic distal gastrectomy. Novel indicator that merits evaluation in western patients Background Laparoscopic distal gastrectomy is used

Consensus on definition and severity grading of lymphatic complications after kidney transplantation

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), Volume 107, Issue 7, Page 801-811, June 2020., 2020
A clear definition and severity grading for lymphatic complications after kidney transplantation is proposed based on the management strategy. The proposed definition and three‐level grading system are generally reasonable, not complicated, and easy to understand; they will allow standardization of results relating to lymphatic complications after ...

Acid‐Base Status Disturbances in Patients on Chronic Hemodialysis at High Altitudes

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nephrology, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Background. Acid‐base disorders have been previously described in patients with chronic hemodialysis, with metabolic acidosis being the most important of them; however, little is known about the potential changes in acid‐base status of patients on dialysis living at high altitudes. Methods.

Data Association Methodology to Improve Spatial Predictions in Alternative Marketing Circuits in Ecuador

open access: yesComputational Intelligence and Neuroscience, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
This work proposes a methodology that reduces the error of future estimations in commercialization based on multivariate spatial prediction techniques (cokriging) considering the products with strong associations. It is based on the Apriori algorithm to find association rules in sales of agricultural products of local markets.

On Colour, Category Effects, and Alzheimer’s Disease: A Critical Review of Studies and Further Longitudinal Evidence

open access: yesBehavioural Neurology, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
The role of colour in object recognition is controversial; in this study, a critical review of previous studies, as well as a longitudinal study, was conducted. We examined whether colour benefits the ability of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients and normal controls (NC) when naming items differing in colour diagnosticity: living things (LT) versus ...

The levels of RAC3 expression are up regulated by TNF in the inflammatory response

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 450-457, January 01, 2014., 2014
RAC3 is a coactivator of glucocorticoid receptor and nuclear factor‐κB (NF‐κB) that is usually over‐expressed in tumors and which also has important functions in the immune system. We investigated the role of the inflammatory response in the control of RAC3 expression levels in vivo and in vitro. We found that inflammation regulates RAC3 levels.

A qualitative case study of health system barriers and facilitators to living donor kidney transplantation in Canada's most populous province

open access: yesWorld Medical &Health Policy, Volume 17, Issue 1, Page 129-148, March 2025.
Abstract Patients with kidney failure need dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive. Living donor kidney transplantation (LDKT) is the best therapeutic option, yet global rates of LDKT have minimally increased, and there are disparities in access. The need for a systems approach to improvement has been highlighted.
