Lubrication of optimized-design tapered-roller bearings to 2.4 million DN [PDF]

open access: yes
The performance of 120.65 mm (4.75 in.) bore high speed design, tapered roller bearings was investigated at shaft speeds to 20,000 rpm (2.4 million DN) under combined thrust and radial load.

Compliant walker [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
A compliant walker is provided for humans having limited use of their legs and lower back. It includes an upright wheel frame which at least partially surrounds an upright user wearing a partial body harness. It is attached to the frame by means of cable

Stabilisation of thoracolumbar vertebral fractures and luxations in cats with a polyaxial screw/rod system

open access: yesJournal of Small Animal Practice, EarlyView.
Objectives The purpose of this study was to determine clinical and neurological data on the stabilisation of thoracolumbar region fractures or luxations in cats with the polyaxial screw rod system. Materials and Methods The study included 16 cats with thoracic and/or lumbar fractures, luxations and/or instability.

Sindrome de Poland: un caso con dextrocardia.

open access: yesRevista Médica Herediana, 1999
We report on a case of Poland anomaly (defect of the muscle pectoralis major and symbrachydactyly on the same side) with dextrocardia. The absence of the pectoralis major muscle without the limb anomaly can be a variant of the Poland sequence (1).While ...

Spontaneous enteric nervous system activity generates contractile patterns prior to maturation of gastrointestinal motility

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Spontaneous neuronal network activity is critical for circuit maturation, yet whether this is a feature of enteric nervous system development has yet to be established. Here, we identify clustered ripples, a previously undescribed form of neurogenic gastrointestinal motility that shares many features with spontaneous neuronal networks in other systems.

Targeting the Microbiota Reverses C‐Section‐Induced Effects on Intestinal Permeability, Microbiota Composition, and Amygdala Gene Expression in the Mouse

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
The study investigated the impact of the delivery method on the microbiome in mice, revealing increased intestinal permeability and altered gene expression in Caesarean section (CS)‐born mice compared to vaginal birth (VB) mice. Administration of Bifidobacterium breve or GOS/FOS partially mitigated these effects, suggesting targeted microbiota ...

A review of diseases associated with cage culture systems: diagnosis and control in smale scale fish farming [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Fish cage culture is a rapid aquacultural practice of producing fish with more yield compared to traditional pond culture. Several species cultured by this method include Cyprinus carpio, Orechromis niloticus, Sarotherodon galilaeus, Tilapia zilli ...

A Cause Without Rebels? Exploring the Tensions Between Framing and Identity in the Mobilisation of Platform Workers

open access: yesNew Technology, Work and Employment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The development of the gig economy has sparked significant societal and academic debates about increased work precarity. While social movements appear necessary to improve the conditions of gig workers, they are difficult to develop in a context marked by the absence of a clear collective identity among workers.

Comparative Analysis of Three Vertebral Screw Placement Directions in Anterior Thoracolumbar Fracture Surgery: A Finite Element Study

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1464-1477, May 2025.
This study compares the biomechanical effects of three anterior fixation systems in thoracolumbar surgery—HXTL, NHXTL, and Medtronic's CD Horizon ANTERIOR. Finite element analysis evaluates stress and displacement across vertebral bodies and support structures under varying load conditions. Results indicate the HXTL system minimizes nail–rod stress yet
