Bifidobacterium Pseudolongum‐Derived Acetate Attenuates Acute Pancreatitis Through GPR43‐Mediated Suppression of M1 Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The severity of acute pancreatitis (AP) is linked to reduced abundance of Bifidobacterium pseudolongum (B. pseudolongum). Administration of B. pseudolongum or its key metabolite acetate alleviates pancreatic and systemic inflammation by suppressing M1 macrophage polarization.

Surgical stabilization of rib fracture patients versus nonoperative controls treated by a multidisciplinary team in a single institution

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Introduction: Despite promising evidence, surgical stabilization of rib fractures (SSRF) is not ubiquitously offered in all trauma centers. Some centers struggle with patient selection while some struggle due to surgeon comfort with the technique.

SKOOTS: Skeleton‐Oriented Object Segmentation for Mitochondria in High‐Resolution Cochlear EM Datasets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Skeleton‐oriented object segmentation (SKOOTS) introduces a new strategy for 3D mitochondrial instance segmentation by predicting explicit skeletons rather than relying on boundary cues. This approach enables robust analysis of densely packed organelles in large FIB‐SEM datasets.

Thoracic hyperextension injury with complete “bony disruption” of the thoracic cage: Case report of a potentially life-threatening injury [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: Severe chest wall injuries are potentially life-threatening injuries which require a standardized multidisciplinary management strategy for prevention of posttraumatic complications and adverse outcome.

Long‐Tea‐CLIP: An Expert‐Level Multimodal AI Framework for Fine‐Grained Green Tea Grading Across Five Sensory Dimensions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Long‐Tea‐CLIP (Contrastive Language‐Image Pre‐training) presents a multimodal AI framework that integrates visual, metabolomic, and sensory knowledge to grade green tea across appearance, soup color, aroma, taste, and infused leaf. By combining expert‐guided modeling with CLIP‐supervised learning, the system delivers fine‐grained quality evaluation and

The metabolic significance of octulose phosphates in the photosynthetic carbon reduction cycle in spinach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
14C-Labelled octulose phosphates were formed during photosynthetic14CO2 fixation and were measured in spinach leaves and chloroplasts. Because mono- and bisphosphates of d-glycero- d-ido-octulose are the active 8-carbon ketosugar intermediates of the L ...

Development‐based In Vivo Bioreactor Strategy for Challenging Senescent Bone Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a development‐based in vivo bioreactor strategy to generate rejuvenated bone grafts (vBR‐Bone) within aged hosts. By enclosing vBR‐Bone fragments within an asymmetric biomimetic periosteum, segmental femoral defects in aged mice were successfully repaired within 6 weeks. Mechanistically, the multifactors of vBR‐Bone reconstitute a remodeling

Polabian accentuation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
From a synchronic point of view, the accentuation of Late Polabian has been clarified by Trubetzkoy (1929) and Olesch (1973, 1974). The stress fell on the last full vowel of a word form, which was found either in the final or in the penulti-mate syllable.
